Windows 7 adds support for systems using multiple heterogeneous graphics cards from different vendors (Heterogeneous Multi-adapter), a new version of Windows Media Center, a Gadget for Windows Media Center, improved media features, the XPS Essentials Pack and Windows PowerShell being included, and a redesigned Calculator with multiline capabilities including Programmer and Statistics modes along with unit conversion. Many new items have been added to the Control Panel, including ClearType Text Tuner, Display Color Calibration Wizard, Gadgets, Recovery, Troubleshooting, Workspaces Center, Location and Other Sensors, Credential Manager, Biometric Devices, System Icons, and Display. Windows Security Center has been renamed to Windows Action Center (Windows Health Center and Windows Solution Center in earlier builds) which encompasses both security and maintenance of the computer. The default setting for User Account Control in Windows 7 has been criticized for allowing untrusted software to be launched with elevated privileges by exploiting a trusted application. Microsoft's Windows kernel engineer Mark Russinovich acknowledged the problem, but noted that there are other vulnerabilities that do not rely on the new setting.

Internet Spades, Internet Backgammon and Internet Checkers, which were removed from Windows Vista, were restored in Windows 7. Windows 7 will include Internet Explorer 8 and Windows Media Player 12. Users will also be able to disable many more Windows components than was possible in Windows Vista. New additions to this list of components include Internet Explorer, Windows Media Player, Windows Media Center, Windows Search, and the Windows Gadget Platform. Windows 7 includes 13 additional sound schemes, titled Afternoon, Calligraphy, Characters, Cityscape, Delta, Festival, Garden, Heritage, Landscape, Quirky, Raga, Savanna, and Sonata. A new version of Virtual PC, Windows Virtual PC Beta is available for Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise, and Ultimate editions. It allows multiple Windows environments, including Windows XP Mode, to run on the same machine, requiring the use of Intel VT-x or AMD-V. Windows XP Mode runs Windows XP in a virtual machine and redirects displayed applications running in Windows XP to the Windows 7 desktop. Furthermore Windows 7 supports the mounting of a virtual hard disk (VHD) as a normal data storage, and the bootloader delivered with Windows 7 can boot the Windows system from a VHD. The Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) of Windows 7 is also enhanced to support real-time multimedia application including video playback and 3D games. That means that Direct X 10 can be used in a remote desktop environment. The three application limit will be removed from Windows 7 Starter

The taskbar has seen the biggest visual changes, where the Quick Launch toolbar has been replaced with pinning applications to the taskbar. Buttons for pinned applications are integrated with the task buttons. These buttons also enable the Jump Lists feature to allow easy access to common tasks. The revamped taskbar also allows the reordering of taskbar buttons. To the far right of the system clock is a small rectangular button that serves as the Show desktop icon. This button is part of the new feature in Windows 7 called Aero Peek. Hovering over this button makes all visible windows transparent for a quick look at the desktop. In touch-enabled displays such as touch screens, tablet PCs, etc., this button is slightly wider to accommodate being pressed with a finger. Clicking this button minimizes all windows, and clicking it a second time restores them. Additionally, there is a feature named Aero Snap, that automatically maximizes a window when it is dragged to either the top or left/right edges of the screen. This also allows users to snap documents or files on either side of the screen to compare them. When a user moves windows that are maximized, the system restores their previous state automatically. This functionality is also accomplished with keyboard shortcuts. Unlike in Windows Vista, window borders and the taskbar do not turn opaque when a window is maximized with Windows Aero applied. Instead, they remain transparent.Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8963175047518589405.post-71294808534391886752009-10-19T01:09:00.000-07:002009-10-19T01:12:16.951-07:00Raga, Spark and Luxe new mp3 players from Philips<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 278px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_c8igB86F8O0/StwfV6T9U2I/AAAAAAAAAr8/FaKdTctJHK8/s320/philips-gogear-raga-mp3-player.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5394220914973692770" />
Philips is not a common name when it comes to mp3 players. The paper just issued a warning to readers that some malicious ads have found their way onto the esteemed paper's web presence. The attacks are likely the result of a malware scammer who is trying to spread his diseased software across the Internet.

The bad ads take the form of pop-ups that automatically re-direct your computer to various websites. You don't even have to click a thing. Thankfully, the Times believes that they have managed to kill the ads, but you should still exercise caution. If you visited today, run an anti-virus check on your computer.

Pop-up malware like this is usually relegated to the dark corners of the Internet. Warez sites and porn rings are often littered with programs like this, lying in wait for un-savvy users browsing without security. If you want to be protected, install a good pop-up blocker and make sure your anti-virus software is always up-to-date. And remember; nine times out of ten, a little vigilance is all you need.

Click here to see the warning message from NYTimesUnknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8963175047518589405.post-46717444455537075162009-09-14T01:45:00.001-07:002009-09-14T01:46:40.790-07:00Zune HD is the Future<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 250px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_c8igB86F8O0/Sq4CuwCbZZI/AAAAAAAAAp4/jaofaywv5xg/s320/zunehdonly.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5381241606946645394" />
Zune is going to be discontinued. If you want to pick one up while you still have the option, do so now. By the time the Zune HD goes on sale on September 15th most of the older models will be out of stock, and unavailable forever more. I think resting everything on the Zune HD's success or failure is actually a pretty clever move by Microsoft. If this device succeeds, the Zune has a future. If it doesn't, at least Microsoft can cut their losses without dumping more devices.

You can only get the black body if you order a Zune HD 16 GB version. The 32 GB version only comes in platinum. If you want different color options for either, you'll have to wait until September 15th. If you place your order on Zune Originals, you'll even be able to customize your device with additional color options or etchings.Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8963175047518589405.post-20656602121926064302009-09-14T01:40:00.001-07:002009-09-14T01:41:05.636-07:00Turn Your Bike Into A Generator : BioLogic FreeCharge<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 250px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_c8igB86F8O0/Sq4Bln9536I/AAAAAAAAApw/LqDmA1ogefg/s320/Pedalpower.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5381240350649737122" />
If any bike-riding hippies are reading this right now, I've got the perfect product for you. The BioLogic FreeCharge allows you to use your bicycle to keep your iPod, smartphone, GPS device, or what have you, charged up at all times. The picture shows an iPod being used, but anything you can power off of a USB hub will work.

The FreeCharge puts a dyno on your wheels that converts the energy of their movement into electricity. Your biking charges the battery within the FreeCharge, and that battery charges your device. When this thing hits in March, it'll cost $100, and BioLogic brags that it can recharge an iPhone up to full in roughly three hours.Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8963175047518589405.post-5360022160597867602009-09-14T00:00:00.000-07:002009-09-14T00:02:47.759-07:00New iPod Touch Has No Camera<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 193px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_c8igB86F8O0/Sq3qggKmxvI/AAAAAAAAApo/FjUR5SGgcQM/s320/new-ipod-touch-09.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5381214973888743154" />
The biggest disappointed (possibly the only one) from yesterday's Apple Event was the lack of video cameras in the new iPod touch. Apple only lowered the pricing and introduced a 64GB iPod touch. The new iPod nano got a video camera that can only record video and not take photos.

Apple is marketing the iPod touch as a gaming console and it was important to keep the price as low as possible. That is why there is no camera in the iPod touch. Apple just takes it's time to integrate a camera into the iPod touch, because it can. Apple almost matched the pricing for the Microsoft Zune HD and there is no other competition at least in the music player market.

For gaming Apple needs to compare itself to the Nintendo DSi (which sells for $169) and the Sony PSP. The small form factor of the touch is a win there. It is definitely a good direction for Apple to market the iPod touch as a game consoleUnknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8963175047518589405.post-49999274280918189882009-09-10T23:08:00.000-07:002009-09-14T01:49:26.101-07:00Find your Mobile phone’s serial number<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 250px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_c8igB86F8O0/Sqnp0ePS4pI/AAAAAAAAAno/Dk0m6S7klGY/s320/mobile_phone.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5380088317550453394" />
To check your Mobile phone’s serial number, key in the following digits on your phone:[* # 0 6 #]without spaces it will show a 15 digit code on the screen.
